Here's a great sweet tea recipe from Wyatt's sister Amy. Yours truly learned it just in time for a New Year's Cookout one year. (Yes, we cooked out on New Year's in Texas - and we wore our sweaters because it got all the way down to 60 degrees in the back yard - ha ha)
Total Time: 30 minutes + chilling
Yield: One Gallon of Tea
Make the Base
1.) Boil 4 cups of water in a sauce pan.
2.) Remove from heat and add 2-3 large (family size) tea bags.
3.) Let steep for 5 minutes, then remove and discard the tea bags.
4.) Add sugar to taste (traditional southern sweet tea is one cup of sugar per gallon) while the tea base is hot and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved
5.) Chill completely.
Make the Tea
1.) To make a gallon of tea, add three quarts of water to the base.
2.) Pour over a full glass of ice.
For interesting taste variations, add lemon, mint leaves, almond extract, raspberry, strawberry, etc. when you serve.
Y'all Enjoy!
